How to Unlock the Gate: Hint 1
When you read the targets in order, the message becomes “Look behind the hanging scroll under the stair.” What’s a method you can use to view what’s on the floor below you?

Your senior ninja is currently searching the floor below you.
Recall the information from your “Ninja Knowledge” notes. Have the leader chant to your senior ninja, “NEN! Behind the hanging scroll O UTSU SHITE!”

How to Unlock the Gate: Answer
The answer is “5963”. Use it to unlock the gate.
After Unlocking the Gate: Hint 1
It seems that to obtain the Golden Cat, the red lever needs to be pointed downwards.
However, the golden box is locked. Find a way to open it.

To open the golden box, you must activate the Tile-Matching Mechanism.
Search the room and find all the wooden tiles. Ringing a bell will alert the mechanical guard, so search quietly and cautiously.
Wooden Tile Locations: Hint 1
There are 16 wooden tiles in total.
The first one is fallen by the Tile-Matching Mechanism.
Some others can be found in gap of the tatami mat, the shoji sliding door, and a gap in the cabinet.

Some tiles must be retrieved carefully so as not to ring a bell.

How to Match the Wooden Tiles: Hint
When you insert a wooden tile into a wall pocket, a picture will appear through the tile’s hole.
Based on the tile’s clue, combine the letters on the tile and the name of an animal to form a word that the clue hints towards.

Four Security Traps: Hint 1
After saying “HIRAKEGOMA”, a wall will rotate and open. Behind it is the note: “Golden Cat Storage Protocol” like shown above.
According to the note, four mechanisms must be activated to enter the hidden room. First, like it says in Step 3, have everyone stand on the footprints and clap three times.

Four Security Traps: Hint 2
The first set of instructions will appear on the monitor like above.
In the corridor, you’ll find two fox masks with a space in between. Find the mask shown in the picture (a Noh theater female mask), and hang it in between the fox masks.

The mask is in the corridor. After you hang it, the next set of instructions will appear on the monitor.

You must take the same mask from before and hang it “where the arrow points.” Find the arrow.

The arrow is on the left side of the altar.
On the floor, there is a wooden plank connecting the gate to the left side of the altar. Use this to make your way to the altar without touching the tatami mat. Hang the mask.

Shuriken can be collected by solving the puzzles on the wooden panels in the corridor. If you haven’t solved all of them yet, refer to the hints for each wooden panel.
At the “end of the path” is a box. Place a large number of shuriken in this box.

Four Security Traps: Hint 9
After disabling Security Trap 3, the above image will appear on the monitor.
Think of a way to hang the painting on the altar.

Four Security Traps: Answer
You need to hang the painting on the altar, but you cannot step on the tatami mat.
The painting will reach the altar if you attach it to the center of the gate’s chain and pull both ends of the chain from the wooden plank on each side of the room.
You’ll need two people to carry this out.

After the countdown, the above image will appear on the monitor.
Face the altar with your entire group and recite “URAGAERI”.
Inside the Hidden Room: Hint 1
There were no specific instructions after you entered the hidden room. However, you’ll notice that on the pedestal there is a box humming with electricity. On the walls, there are black squares with animal silhouettes and spots where you can stand things upright.
Can you find anything square-shaped that you can stand against the wall?

On the floor, there are square pieces of tatami mat which match perfectly with the size of the wall spaces.
Try looking on the other side of the mats.

Inside the Hidden Room: Hint 3
There are various pictures on the backside of the tatami mats.
For example, one mat has a shuriken. If you look at one of the shuriken in the room, you’ll find a dragon drawn on it.
Find the other objects represented by the pictures on the mats, then figure out which animal the object has. Place the mats against their respective animals on the walls.

Inside the Hidden Room: Hint 4
The corresponding patterns are shown above.
When you place the tatami mats on their correct spots on the walls, the button on the pedestal will begin to glow.
When you press the button, an electric current will run through the walls around the room causing a key to drop. Return to the first room and use the key to open the golden box.

Inside the Hidden Room: Hint 5
There is a lever inside the golden box.
When this lever is pointed downwards, the safe holding the Golden Cat will open.
Think of a way to make the lever point downwards.

The lever is just a flat drawing, but if you slide it up, you can pull the entire drawing out. Flip it upside down and reinsert it. With this, the lever is now “pointed downwards”.
